Both Matteo and Andrea have drawn on numerous influences to expand their knowledge and understanding of aesthetics, something that has helped them develop and evolve their practice. Alvar Aalto: Technology and Nature This documentary produced by Phaidon explores the life and work of Finnish designer Alvar Aalto (1898-1976). Considered one of the great figures of modern architecture – along with Gropius, Le Corbusier and Miles van der Rohe – Aalto company banner design was a pioneer who embraced new technologies and organic materials to create innovative structures in harmony with his surroundings. The documentary was filmed in Finland, Italy, Germany and the United States.
Objectified Through cinematic reality shots and deep conversations, Objectified documents the creative processes of the world's most influential product designers, with a special focus on how the things they produce impact our lives. Director Gary Hustwit explores in it our complex relationship with manufactured objects and, by extension, with the people who design them. What can we learn about who we are and who we want to become from the objects we surround ourselves with? That is one of the questions raised by the film.
